KAPS Personal Generator

 

The KAPS (Kaldara Power System) is a small, modular and transportable electrical power generating unit that uses pollution free geothermal energy from the earth.

The KAPS units can be installed at production site in days rather than years and will open up the possibility of utilizing temporary access to geothermal wells. Containers are used as on-site buildings and by appropriate arrangement and environmental painting they can be made to resemble and adjust to the surrounding nature.

Start production on the first KAPS unit

In May 2008 Kaldara Green Energy started production of the first 5 MW KAPS unit. The production takes place in Bangalore India. After production phases the KAPS unit will be factory tested for 4-6 weeks producing electrical energy for the Grid and sold to the Indian electricity market. The first KAPS unit will be ready for shipment from India in February 2009. Installation of the first unit will be on an unharnessed borehole in Iceland. The KAPS unit is a flash type geothermal power plant and installation period on the production site is estimated three weeks. Connection of KAPS to the power grid could delay startup but it depends on the distance to the local power grid and other factors.
